Eligibility Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) from a deemed/recognized (AICTE) university
  • Ideally 8 – 15 years of experience in an operational support role or similar for a complex refinery or LNG facility (preferred)

Things To Remember

  • The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for providing mechanical design engineering and associated technical support to Chevron’s Refining and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) assets.
  • This role will be responsible for providing support for field engineering, engineering work package development and other engineering related activities.
  • The role is part of the Mechanical Design Engineering Team at the Chevron ENGINE Center.

Job Description

  • Support day-to-day operations by providing strategic engineering support of the operating assets; this includes minor design changes, minor project scopes, long-term maintenance support and technical input into long-term process or reliability related issues
  • Perform Management of Change for design packages and associated changes
  • Provide support for quality inspection, checks and specification of new equipment
  • Provide technical support for planned mechanical equipment scopes occurring on site during routine, campaign maintenance or Turnarounds including development of Engineering Work Packages
  • Support planning materials maintenance planning, materials planning and procurement activities as required
  • Conduct minor work package design for Asset Brownfield Engineering related Projects, as well as providing input and conducting design studies in Opportunity Development
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs)
  • Support mechanical equipment fitness for service assessments in accordance with API codes and standards, as well as providing support for Root Cause Investigations and other equipment related incidents
  • Identify mechanical equipment risks and deliver solutions to enable safe operation of the plant
  • Leverage expertise and knowledge of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, Pressure Safety Valves, Marine Loading Arms and other related static equipment
