Eligibility Criteria

  • Accredited degree in mechanical engineering, with 4-10 years of experience with fired heaters and associated systems
  • Familiarity with codes and standards of ASME, API and ASME
  • Knowledge of industry practices and those adopted by reputed PMC and engineering organizations
  • Updated on new scientific engineering methods and technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process.
  • Capability to appropriately use computer applications and other specialized engineering tools. 
  • Strong communication skills and people skills are a must.

Job Description

General Description includes mechanical design and analysis of an assigned scope of work in a Lummus Heat Transfer project including specific complex deliverables such as pressure parts calculations, flexibility analysis of heater coils and crossovers, design and engineering of furnace coil support systems.

Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and supervising vendor packages applicable to fired heaters, reformers, cracking furnaces and air-preheating systems, including specific deliverables on associated pressure vessels, piping, rotating equipment.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a project team.
  • Mentoring of less-experienced mechanical engineers/designers. Depending on size and complexity of scope of work, may be assigned as the Mechanical Engineering Lead for a project.
  • Effective communications within the team and among other engineering disciplines.
  • Effective management of change.
  • Responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control.
  • Travel when needed to overseas offices and/or for customer/project meetings.
  • The candidate will also be involved in communication with overseas offices in multi-office project execution.
